General Science (MAP)
Grades
7th-8th
This 90 minute course will cover several branches of science including astronomy, meteorology, oceanography, earth study, geology, paleontology, and environmental science, giving students an overall solid foundation in science. In class, students will benefit from hands-on experience and lab work in groups. Labs serve to further demonstrate and solidify concepts discussed in class and in the textbook. Students will learn at home through a combination of assigned readings, videos, and questions to reinforce important concepts and deepen their understanding.
We will use Apologia’s Exploring Creation with General Science, which provides an understanding of the world around us and an appreciation of the real-world relevance of scientific inquiry and the beauty of Creation. The course will also include: how to properly use the scientific method, how to record data and report it, how to read, create, and utilize graphs as well as many great historical and modern-day scientists who studied our world out of a desire to better know God as its Creator.
